Default Canvas smell in cabs?

Hi, I'm shopping for my first Porsche. I'm looking at a 91 cab with 60k miles. It appears to be in excellent condition. One thing we notice is a canvas odor, it has to be from the top or its cover. Is that common? Is there something you can treat the top with to eliminate the odor?

Thanks,
Doug

Do all cab's have a canvas smell? No. Mine doesn't. I would check for water under the floor mats. Perhaps the car you are looking at has some leaks in its weather seals.

None in mine either. Sounds like damp under carpets. If so seals may need renewing.

Mine is perfectly fine as well. No smells other than the old Porsche smell that both my cars have.

So I thought it was a canvas odor, but I did notice the same odor in an 85 targa I drove. Is this a typical "Porsche" odor found in older cars? I don't think there is any mildew or water damage in the carpet or mats. The car has been kept meticulously inside.

Thanks,
Doug

They are like us old people. We get a certain aroma to us as we age
