I'm with you, man. I put on clear corners and now I have Clear Corner Regret.

Polished D90's absolutely kick ***. And the girls love them because they can see themselves in them.

Simply put I like Design-90 wheels
I was quite surprised in the big difference (increase) in weight of combined wheels+tires when I switched from my original 16" 5-spokes w/ 205+225's to 17" Cup I's w/ 225+255's. I am not experienced enough with the full capabilities of the car, but that increase in rotating and unsprung mass has to make a difference. I am tempted to put my 16's back on for a while to see how the car feels.

I sense a new, hot market for D90s. I knew I should have bought a set for a song when everybody hated 'em. The PO of my car GAVE THEM AWAY after buying Cup 1s. Arghh!

Lightness. The best place to save weight - not just unsprung mass, but rotating unsprung mass, of course.
    So
    -More feel
    -better ride (especially with Bilsteins),
    -quicker responses

    and..
    -less tyre noise
    -less money for rubber,
    -less bling

Johnny, I love your black rims and paint. Is your paint job on your car matte black? Looks really sharp.

D 90's are the way to go
    - but as others have said the car has to be the right ride hight etc
    - the subtle beauty is best expressed in the 7 and 9 inch - hard to find but as fitted to the C4RS !!
    - i will try to post a picture tomorrow
    - curiously the extra width ( although minor ) seems to make a tangible difference to handling
    - on a road car they do everything right, on the track they work
I am delighted that I am not a voice in the wilderness on liking D 90's - I bought my C2 new in 1989 - I also occasionally drive an RS and a GT2 - all the cars are so different - I like the C2 as a road car and I have tried to make it into a good road car not a compromised road or track car
    - the 7/9 D 90's are perfect

I am pleased to hear this against all the negative D90 comments, given that I have them! I have made a couple of posts here since joining but hope to do some photos tomorrow, now my car is back from service. It is stock everything, though I do plan to do the ride height when I can afford it. Unfortunately budget just went on getting other things done that were picked up at service. Maybe next year! I am new to ownership though so still just loving it the way it is!

Default Ride height is the key

When I was preparing to install my Bilstein/H&Rs, I was also convinved that I needed to replace the D90s. But the funny thing is while they were off during the install and I was cleaning them up for pics to sell on VWVortex, I realized that they were in perfect condition and it was just plain stupid to sell them for MAYBE $500. Then after I got the suspension install done and put the wheels back on the lowered car, suddenly I wasn't bothered by the looks of the wheels! The real culprit was the ridiculous SUV ride height.

    Always keep your old parts.
I keep the d90's in the basement with the other things that will come back in style like striped ties and bell bottom jeans.
The d-90's are easy to clean also. Below is a before and after of mine.

My 964 came with chromed D90's when I bought it....but I replaced them with Cup 1's.

I just found it to be a bit too flashy and dated with the chrome.

There are some 9" D90's but they are rare and command a premium. In many cases you'll pay as much for a 8 & 9 D90's as you would for 7 & 9 Cup I's.
