Close Call
Moved my car to the street this afternoon so my wife could get her car out of the driveway for a short errand. My neighbor across the street was doing some work at the time on the stereo in his BMW wagon parked in his driveway.
He ran back in the house to get something, forgetting that he had taken the car out of gear, and did not have the hand brake engaged. My wife just returns from her errand and sees the BMW rolling across the street then bouncing hard off the curb.
The BMW missed the nose of my car by about 6 inches. Fortunately it was angled just slightly in the driveway so it tracked a bit to the right.
Just when you thought runaway shopping carts were all you had to look out for...

Yikes!
My near miss was Sunday morning. I was driving the P-car to Pocono Raceway @ 6:00am. I had my eyes on my GPS device when I heard my wife make some kind of nervous noise.
I looked up to see a the head of a deer about 4 feet away from and level to my right headlight. I was going about 65mph. The next moment is a blur in my memory. First thing I did was scream (I swear the deer heard me - the passenger window was down) and my wife says I swerved to avoid - but I don't remember.
The next moment, the deer's head was going passed the passenger side door and I had braced myself to feel an impact someplace on the car. Didn't happen. I then looked in my mirror to see the deer slipping on the pavement - due to the wind current from the car. Had to be inches we missed each other.
It happend so FAST that I was not even shaken up afterwards or perhaps the scream I let out expelled the tension? Anyhoo - GRATEFULL!!!

Lots of unfortunate P-car 'unintentional contact' lately on these forums. Good to see a happy ending for once.
