I am nearing 35,000 miles on my C2 with the original clutch still in tact. The car sits a lot (garage queen) and it is going in for its spring tune up and it will have the RSA tail installed. I want to thave all the fluids changed but I am wondering if I need to have the clutch bleed or is it going to be time to save for a new clutch. I will have the clutch bled anyway while its there, I was just wondering if it grabs a little high because of the car not being used too much. The car is not used in DE sessions and it is basically used for pleasure drives.

At what mileage point did everyone change their clutches? Just curious Thanks again...

WOW...So I should be OK then. I guess that I just need to drive my car more often and to just have the clutch line bled.

Mine's in the shop now at 69K. In the past 2 years I've replaced the master and slave cylinders, and the shifter linkages. The clutch has always been heavy for the 4 years and 7K miles I've owned the car. With recent troubles getting into first and reverse, it was time...

Do you think that the car sitting for a while would allow the clutch to grab higher?

Clutches on our cars are very durable. There is a well-documented DMF problem on some of the earlier MY cars, but unless you live your life a 1/4 mile at a time you can expect your clutch to last for many more miles.

My car has 94.5K on the orig clutch and FW and feels practically like new... I'm crossing my fingers it stays that way for a while.

Porsches and clutch life are strictly a function of the driver. Once I learned how to drive I was easily getting over 100,000 miles on a clutch. Even 125,000. But, most don't.

Around 75K, and I only changed it because the engine was removed to address some minor oil leaks.

Previous owner changed the clutch on my 91C2 at 120K miles. Now at 165K and it feels perfect. By the by, the feel of this 911 clutch is the best on any car I've owned - bite is very predictable and utterly solid, and low enough to be easily controlled. Just one of those Porsche engineering effects which helps to boost confidence to the level where I can actually use the car somewhere close to the level it was designed for.

It definately looks like I just need to get the clutch system bled and I should be good to go. It grabs at the same spot but it is just a little too high for my taste.

Mine was first changed at 60K miles when the original DMF failed. I just replaced the clutch at 218K miles.

Dealer replaced mine under extended warranty at 40,000 miles when the DMF failed. Bleeding the slave cylinder released some black goo, and it definately felt better with fresh fluid.
