I don't have any other pictures but the white car looks to be set at RS spec. As you can see the wheels fit totally under the well.
Who did the alignment for you?
The RSA spec is lower than C2, but I was going for Euro (real) RS Originally Posted by cobalt

I added the tail over the winter. I'll be at Lime Rock this weekend, so no AutoX for me on Sunday, or my wife will kick me and my bad habit (the car) out of the house.
The alignment was done by Tom at Advanced Auto (HVR PCA) in New Windsor.

Ps. Cobalt ...my 89 964 was 25" to the wheel well also.....
Jeff
You usually want a half tank of gas no more than 3/4 max. I am not sure what gas weighs but I believe it is in the vicinity of 6.25 pounds per gallon so a 1/4 tank can shift the weight of the car forwards by as much as 25 pounds. When doing a corner weight and alignment this can make a difference.Originally Posted by R6XTERRA

ilko,
Believe it or not the RS in the picture is considerably lower than you would think and about 20mm lower than your car and lower than mine. I only lowered the car 3/8 (9.5mm) and 1/2"(12.5mm) and it was a noticeable difference visually. I had Chris at EuroTire do the alignment he said there is no way I could get the car down to RS spec with eibach springs.
Here is a picture of my car at ROW height this is 20mm lower and the car at the lower stance. The RS pictured would be an additional 10mm lower in the front and 8mm lower in the rear than my car. I know there would be no visible gap between the wheel and fender if you were at RS height.
If you make it to the Meadowlands one weekend you will see the indoor ski run they are building which looks like the one in the picture with the RS.
The pink turbo is actually ROW height or 20mm lower than stock an RS would be an additional 3/4 inch lower.
If you look at my turbo it is at ROW height and it sits lower than my C2.
I never get sick of looking at pics of 964's... I know that to the average person they all look the same, but amazing how different they all look to us

Doug,
I just changed my H&R reds out for greens. The ride hieght is meant to be 25 1/2 in the front and 25 in the rear measured to the top of the wheel well. I'm running 17" wheels on front and 18" on rear so I'm running 25 1/5 front and back. (big wheels...)
Befor you pull out the front stuts, mark one of the three bolts so you know that you're putting them back in the right orientation - they can be put back incorrectly.
I had the reds set to euro rs specs - handles great but your rear tires won't last too long. OK if you're trakin' but if you mostly DD or commute, go with stock alignment. I'm getting the greens set to aggressive side of stock - part way to rs.
An air impact gun is real handy for getting the hats of the fronts too.

The RS-America ride height is the same as the USA/CAN C2 and C4. I took the photo below with the original suspension back in 1994.

The plan is a day of WD40 soaking and let my teenager loose on it with the impact wrench.

My first mistake was thinking I did not need to fire up the old compressor Originally Posted by ddubois

Lesson learned....USE THE THING BETWEEN YOUR EARS, it can help at times also

I did some measurements and research last night. My car is running 25" in the rear and 25 1/2 in the front. According to Adrians book the US cars come with a 50mm gap between the tire and wheel well and the ROW have a 40mm gap the RS sits 40mm lower than the ROW so RS gap is 0mm. That makes the RS 2.0" lower than the US spec cars and 1.6" lower than the ROW spec cars.
My car is as low as it can go with the Bilstein Eibach setup. I have a 3/4" gap in the front so I am still around 20mm higher than an RS spec car. With these setups there is no way to lower the car to RS spec unless you have special fully threaded shocks or shorter springs than Eibach or H&R offer.
Yes I did read that the RSA and US C2's are set to the same specs.
My turbo actually came 10mm higher than the C2's from the factory for US spec. So 60mm higher than RS spec. I lowered my car 40mm so I am still 20mm higher than RS spec in the turbo. Wheel well measurements are 24 1/4" rear and 24 5/8" front.

The wheels on the C2 are 17" Fikse?
The wheels are actually 18" Fikse Profile V. They look great and are light but have no clear coat so need constant polishing. The PO just installed these a while back and although they look great I am not all that impressed by Fikse quality. I think these can easily bend especially the inside barrel. I have since removed them and have 2 sets of Cup1's for most uses. I find the ride to be much better with the Cup1's and I am sure they will handle the pounding much better than the Fikse's.
Ilko,
To be honest I think you are much better off with the height your car is at. Unless you plan on using it as a track only racer I would not go RS spec.
BTW I found a way to keep my wife off my back when it comes to my obsession. It took me 13 years but I finally got her hooked and now she has the bug also. She is more excited for this Sundays autocross than I am and she can't wait for ladies day at Pocono in June. Now when I make an improvement she is all for it.
If you can make it to NNJR's car control clinic you should try to convince your wife to attend, she may surprise you and enjoy it as much as my wife did. You can always tell her there will be many other wives attending.Anthony,
You're definitely right about the way the car handles. I checked and there is a lot more thread on the Konis, so it could go lower, but I'm happy with the ride height.
I think it will take my wife 13 years to get her to that level, hehe. When I met you guys last year and we sat together at the diner in Kingston your wife (I'm sorry I forget her name now) was all excited about the cars and the cruise. I have a lot to work on
Although I have to say that my wife likes the 911 better than the 944. She called the car cute, liked the "retro" head lisghts and the smell of oil (wow!), and told me it reminded her of her old truck (she had a 50's Chevy when she lived in Cali in the 90's). So who knows...
