When I bought my car it came with a factory porsche tail in a box. (part number 930 512 023 00) Will this 930 decklid work on a C2 narrow body 964? Does anybody know where I could get the rubber that goes around the lid and the gasket? Thanks!
964 with a 911 sc tail fitted with no real problems had to change the hinges to a 964 turbo ones as there is an off set on the hinge, Ruf front lip Promax chip drilled air box cup pipe.
I'm not too sure if you can just put the 3.2 tail on the 964 deck lid. Also as you can see on the picture from the link above, the opening in the lid is MUCH bigger.
Here is the decklid base I have. I still haven't decided if I would like a tail on my car or not. I was considering paintinig it black but I am not sure where I can buy the rubber surround that goes on the tail. Do you guys think it would look good or should I leave it off and just try to sell the base?
Remember they're for a different purpose - the turbo lid takes air in, over the intercooler... the normally aspirated, electrically operated tail lets hot air out.
Not sure what a turbo tail would do for temperatures on a non-turbo model?

The 964 RS America tail takes air in (as does the 3.2 Carrera tail). So I don't think that would be a problem, since the RSA has the same motor all other NA 964's have.
ahhh !!!!
now i understand !!
rubber lip from carrera on turbo base NEARLY makes a turbo S tail
i have turboS tail , and it fits to a 930/965 lid , with 965/rsa hinges .
gasket i bought from porsche .

You could prabably get the gasket from Pelican Parts. Before you start getting too excited, be sue to price out the rubber lip for that bad boy. Be sitting down.
I got a price quote from Oklahoma Foreign for $400 for the rubber surround. I decided to just go ahead and put it on ebay and get rid of it. My oil cooler has a slight drip and I think I would rather spend $400 buying a new oil cooler!
