Default Oil change advice

Hi all,

I'm just rebuilding my 964 cab after a full respray, so whilst it was in bits I took the opportunity to replace the oil cooler too. I've drained all the oil from the catch tank and crank case so I believe there will be zero oil in the car now.

So my question is, how much should I put in before starting the engine and bringing it up to temperature?

many thanks,
Bryn.

I've read that the oil cooler and lines hold about 1 1/2 quarts. The manual says put in 6 quarts before you start it normaly, so 7 or 8 quarts should get you close. The only question I have is will 8 quarts overfill it since the cooler and lines will still be empty at that point. Maybe someone else knows the answer. I would probably put in 6, run it for 30 seconds, add 2 more, run it again and check it then add amother 2 until it gets to operating temperature.
