Default porsche alarm module--- where is it on a 90 c4???

i tracked down my problem with the fuel pump not running to a problem with the porsche alarm system not sending power to the 30 terminal of the dme relay. on 91 and later, the alarm module is located under the passenger seat, but not on mine. where is it exactly, and a part number would be appreciated for this year (i have a # for the alarm module on a 94, but don't know if it is the same). thanks-----------------tom

On my 89: lift the bonnet - or the front trunk. look behind the hinge on passenger side (for LHD) and hidden back there is a little black box. (assume 90 is probably the same as 89?)
You'll p-robably need a flashlight to actually see it.
I still haven't figured out how to get at it without removing the hinge.
Jason probably has a picture of its location in his archives

It's as frankvan says - I replaced mine last year. You dont need to remove the hinge, it comes out without issue. I think there is a thread on this.

forgot to add this. is it right behind the hinge. i glanced at it last night and there was a fairly good sized unit of some kind tucked back in there. what is the exact location, and what is the approximate size of this unit. i think i have the right part#.

It is behind the front hood hinge on the passenger’s side. It is a black box maybe the size of a pack of cigarettes (give or take – I don’t smoke).

It’s located on the fender and has a wiring harness plugged into it, of course there isn’t enough play to pull it out and disconnect the harness. Small hands help – I had my wife do it the first time.

If I recall you had to push it back (towards the car) to make it release from the clip mounted on the fender.

Good luck

Has anyone else manage to remove the module from behind the hood hinge? MIne is on the left side of the car (RHD market) and my hand won't even go in there! do you remove the gas strut support?
I know this is a very old thread, but so far it's the only one that comes close to being relelvant to my situation due to the location of the module.

Any help appreciated
