did you try resoldering the joints? That is a somewhat common problem

Try LA Porsche Dismantlers (http://www.911pcar.com/) and PartsHeaven (http://www.partsheaven.com/).

on a u.s. model cab, the control module for the top is located up under the dash--left of the steering wheel. it is mounted with two plastic nuts. the part number is 911 618 313 01. this number is on my unit as well as listed in the pdf catalog. since mine is a 1990, and the parts catalog i referenced was for a 1994 , this indicates to me that the application for this module spanned quite a few years (unlike many of the other modules), and therefore not too difficult to find at a dismantler. have seen on several posts about resoldering these if they malfunction, and the consensus is that it solves the problem. -------------tom
