Default Zimmerman vs Sebro discs/rotors

Hi folks, been a little while!

I am changing my front discs, and see a new brand for non OEM - Sebro. Anyone know them?

From the pic at type 911 looks like the hats are primered, which saves me a job with the zimmermans, but not if they are lower quality. Both the same price. I've always been happy with the Z's in the past, apart from having to paint the hats..

TIA!

I dislike it when people say do a search , but

to many posts already for a quick summing up .

Hi Steve, indy.

Sorry, I assumed that this was a brand new, probably Chinese product, having never heard of em before - so I didn't search.

Trouble is the search results range from 'terrible' to 'they are OEM manufacturer'. Hell, they are German, how bad can they be?

Steve, having cosy thoughts about 928's right now. Had one pull away from my open window on the M8 today. What a marvellous noise...

'terrible' to 'they are OEM manufacturer'
So , it cleared the whole thing up for ya ?

How about you do "The" test for us ?
Sebros on one side and zimmermans on the other ?

"they are German, how bad can they be?"

The nice thing about sebro is the come with grey primer on them so you avoid the unsightly rusting of the hubs that you get with Zimmermans.

Trabants and garden gnomes! LOL..

OK, the clinical trial starts here: Sebros ordered for the front, last year's Zimmermans on the back. I'll do a logistic regression analysis of the findings to control for possible confounding variables.

I'm going to put a top coat of heatproof paint on those hats, too. Oh yes.

I bought Zimmermans from German sweedish french for £54 each rears. fronts are about £48.
All I had to do was sprey the hats myself. not a bog job at all.

I sprayed my zimmermans, but the rust came through after around 6 months. Its hard to get a thick enough coat with a rattle can. Maybe you did a better job than me, Pesty!

Note to self: must get my calipers refurbed!

Hi Johnny,

I had Sebros on the front of my 964 and they were fine.

Must nip round with the wee red snapper some day!

I didn't spray my Zimms, I used silver caliper paint and I applied it with a brush. I put 2 coats on each rotor and I haven't had any rust problems so far.

jonny I have no idea how long they will last this is the first car I have bothered doing this on.

I put 2 coats of Zinc oxide prima on first then 2 coats of high temp paint.

They will probably go black before they rust. even so I'm pretty sure they wont go bright orange all over for many years.

I wish you hadn't started this thread. My pad warning light has just come on and that job of replacing the rear discs at the same time has just been brought forward a few months

Sebros have just been ordered

I sprayed the Z's on the front of my 964 as well:

It's been about, 4 months (I live right on a salt-water inlet too boot) and they are looking just fine. Althought one of my Z's came pre-warped/bent. Not much but I can fell it at very light braking (it's the one on the front right ****). Outside of that they have been wearing OK with the Axxis pads.

I need new rears for my 993 (I have a set of Z's in the box waiting to go in). Who has THE best price and... who in the US carries Sebros so I can price compare. I've looked at Pelican and Paragon but I did not see Sebros listed at either site - maybe I'm blind).
