Just went to see if they'd finished painting my car...

Actually - I can give an exact price because the total was £636 (as well as VAT, there was the felt sunroof strip (although not the rear because they left the sunroof in) and a headlight bolt.

What neeeds doing? Often when starting aircon repairs, you get deeper and deeper into it. I spent nearly £2K on mine, and could have been even worse! James, maybe start another thread on the aircon?

Some pics of the welding they did. I can't make much sense of them myself but know it was the rear o/s wheel arch. Will take some of the completed project this weekend.

Well, I haven't given it a clean myself yet (plan to put lots of coats of wax on tomorrow!) but couldn't resist bringing the 964 in to work today. One of my colleagues came up to me about 30 minutes ago and said "your car looks good today - been cleaning it?". Paintwork was obviously worth the money - pics will be added tomorrow!

This is not something I was told.
In fact, it's not a big problem anyway, since most of the car wasn't painted. Might mean I should avoid waxing the roof - apart from that, it probably doesn't matter if I fail to wax the spoiler, rear bumper, mirrors and the headlight surrounds.

Sun was shining, and I've really done quite enough work this week so took the afternoon off, gave it a good clean and here are the pics.
I took a close up of one headlight (just the ring was painted) rear spolier, and the rear bumper. On the bumper photo I think you can just see that the centre section (painted) is slightly brighter than the left corner. However - it all seems less noticeable than it did 2 days ago so I'm quite happy.
I did unfortunately find small rust bubbles where the rear bumper meets the wing on both sides while I was cleaning the car. So it will need more paint at a later date - but not too worried at the moment, and will focus on getting the seats recovered next, plus my air con fixed.
My g/f got home as I was finising the cleaning and told me what a good looking car it is - and how much better it is than the Supra (I'd hope so!).

It's a bit pitted under both my headlights - not any rust, but I do need to get the touch up paint out.

Ah. Does that work well on the spoiler black trim too? Mine looks very grey at the moment so need to do something with it.
Years ago when I tried 'back to black' on trim it actually seemed to make it worse once it was washed off.
Someone mentioned that WD40 works well too.
