Engine Lid Will Not Open
I did a search and came up with nothing. Does the engine lid have a hidden secondary release like the trunk lid? My engine lid will not open. Pull the release, nothing happens.

My engine lid stayed shut when the cable snapped at the door end which left me in a right mess. There was no hidden cable release because the catch is designed to be under tension so if the cable snaps, the lid is supposed to swing open. My catch was clearly stuck because it hadn't been kept lubricated.
However, I found that a bit of pressing, pulling and general jiggling of the lid made it pop open. It was then a simple job to fit a new cable.
My guess is that you've a similar problem, maybe the cable has slipped from the clamp. Try the above, perhaps while someone pulls on the cable handle. When it opens lubricate the catch and re-adjust the cable.

I don't have one of them there moving spoilers. I can just hope that the secondary release is there. I've replaced that particular tail light many times for some unknown reason. I never noticed a cable in there.

I think that this was added to all 94's but might not have been on some of the earlier cars.

I have a TSB at home that mentions this as an update. IIRC it was for some 93 and all older 964's. I was surprised to see my 93 had it on the front but not on the rear and my turbo had both with production dates only a few months apart. Although it is possible it was removed from the 93. Then again it might have been a bigger issue for the fixed tail cars which offered less access.

Something else I found strange was my 93 was also missing the clip that seems to hold the wire in place, circled here on my 94 and also seen on the RSA in the link above. I am wondering if anyone else missing the wire is also missing the clip?
