Anyone actually complete a regear of a G64 themselves? I am realizing that I would like 4th to be a bit shorter at a minimum, if not a shorter 2nd,3rd as well. There are points on the track where I just lug it. I am leary of trying to add more 'power', but continue my quest to loose weight.

Any info about the extent of the work, and how much of a gain for how much $$ would be interesting. Searching a bit it seems that it might feel like a 50 to 100hp upgrade.

That's why you need ARP rod bolts and titanium retainers so you can rev high enough in 3rd so the big jump to 4th isn't as bad

Re-gearing would be a substantial benefit - it always is on a race car. But it's also expensive. I'll ask at the shop that I am going to tomorrow for my car's pre-race inspection for this weekend... I'll see how much they think it would cost to re-gear...

Mine was ~$7k for re-gear and new rotors front and rear in March 2002.

Thanks for the posts guys. Interesting point Garrett, but w/o a chip there is no point. I am pretty sure the torque drops off above 6500-ish anyways (right?). Anyone just replace the final drive? Doesn't that just adjust all the gears down at once? I wonder if one can do that on a C4 tranny.

It is not possible to replace the final drive on C4.
C4 RS employs as well parts coming from the 953 project that are incompatible with transmission G64

PHP Code:
I wonder if one can do that on a C4 tranny
.

I am working on it !!!!!!!
