Suddenly I don't own a 964
The day finally arrived. After months of soul seraching and hand wringing, it all seemed to happen so quickly.
7.30am this morning, my friend Rob drove my 964 away from my house for the very last time, heading for London where its new owner awaits (subject to a favourable inspection).
So I (almost) no longer own a 964. The strange thing is that I actually feel pretty good about the whole thing. A few friends (some of whom don't even have the slightest interest in cars) have been really upset to think that I could even contemplate letting it go. One vowed never to speak to me again if I went ahead with it. But life moves on. I've had and truly loved that car since 1994 and it feels like the whole thing sort of came to a natural end.
So the next Rennlist North Wales Run (March 18th, remember) will have to be done in the RS4. I dare say Paula and I will still manage to keep up. Although not with Dave, obviously...
Now I have to look forward to my GT3 Porsche Driving Experience at Millbrook mid next week, and then delivery probably in June. But this forum will always feel like home.
I look in the garage and there's no 964 - it's just plain weird.

This is sad to hear.... yet I am also jealous of your up-coming purchase.

Dave, (unlike the other Dave) I think you're having a bit of trouble keeping up. I never actually took delivery of the Cayman. I ended up cancelling the order on the very day that it arrived at the (very understanding) OPC. I just sort of went cold on the idea. Paula's deteriorating condition was a factor, but that doesn't seem to have stopped me from getting a GT3...

Ah, OK - I am having trouble keeping up. I didn't know that.
On the other hand - I've now lost all respect for you! Selling the 964 was (just) about acceptable when I thought you had a Cayman and were buying a GT3. Now you don't even own a Porsche!

I know - mind you, I got a fair old collection of bits and pieces of 964 up in my loft. I bet if I tied them all together with string and duct tape, I could still qualify as a Porsche owner.

John, I understand your sense of loss - my 964 was driven away this morning and it was a sad sight. However, I have the perfect solution; within 5 hours of waving goodbye to the C2 I was putting a deposit down on 964 turbo. Watch this space !!
