Default Rear Undertray?

Hello. This is my first post here and I wanted to let you know that I really like this forum. Lots of intelligent people with good information.

I just purchased a white 90 C2 with a 5 speed transmission. It has 72000 miles on it and seems to be in good shape for its age. The one thing the car is missing is the rear undertray. I would like to pick one up somewhere so does anybody know where I might can look? Thanks alot.

Ritche.

Where are you located? Try nearest Porsche dismantler.

Although some people prefer to run without it.

Welcome!

Rule #1: You must post pics of your car! It sates our Porsche voyuerism.

On the undertray: you may have one offered to you by someone just by posting this. There's a debate about whether to a) take it off for better airflow around the engine, or b) leave it on for protection as God (Porsche) intended.

My car has 60k and not one drop of oil from the engine. There for I don't need the tray to catch it. Living in Florida I say leave it off.

Welcome and enjoy the forum. Look forward to seeing pics of your car!

I'll stay out of the undertray debate. To each his own.

I don't mean to stir up anything with a undertray debate. I was going by Adrian Streather's book that says to leave it on unless your in a really hot climate. My thinking was that Porsche put it on for a reason and that it helps with aerodynamic drag which should improve performance and gas millage. I must admit that the real reason I want it is to catch the 2 little drips the car leaves on my floor after it sits for a couple of days.

Thanks. for the replies and I will try to post some pictures up soon.

Ritchie.

"I must admit that the real reason I want it is to catch the 2 little drips the car leaves on my floor after it sits for a couple of days."
The tray will become an oily mess , then a pain in the *** when you want to work on the thing .

"My thinking was that Porsche put it on for a reason and that it helps with aerodynamic drag which should improve performance and gas millage. "
aerodynamic drag = the air flow is so not laminar , so I really don't think thats it .
improve performance = not so much if any at all .
gas millage = not so much if any at all .

Save your money and be glad its gone .

Like some of the engine side covers, it may just be for noise abatement

I'd hate to think what all the road salt would do to my engine if I didn't have the tray attached here around Chicago... I keep mine in place!
