I thought mine was a 2 until I took off the undertray for an oil change and left it off. Now I usually get a single drip after the first drive following the car sitting for a week. Then an occasional single drip here and there during extended use. So I guess that makes it a 3. Not enough to bother me. I'm going to clean it up and at least determine where it's coming from pretty soon.

Mine was a 2 when I got it. Now after a year, it's moving towards a 3. With the oil-catcher (undertray) on, I get *one* drop on the floor after running. When it was off during alignment, it looked moist around the head joint but not "wet". As I recall someone saying, back in the day Porsche would not do a warranty repair on these for a "moist" head seam. So I don't lose any sleep over it, and I'm not eager to jump into it with both feet. Not for all these $6K figures I hear batted around.

I told the car, "I've noticed you're leaking more, and I'm worried.".
It said, "Leave me alone. I don't have a problem. I can stop anytime I want."

I am at 3 to 4 because of fittings on oil lines and weepage through old oil lines. I have bought all new lines and will replace in a few weeks and expect to go back to zero leaks.

Mine was dry until 225K. Now at 235K she is at 2. It doesn't really annoy me much, but the fact that a rebuild would also mean some extra power (after taking it to 9M)...

#1 does not exist. Most "dry" 911s are varying levels of #2. #3 is perfectly acceptable in most peoples book.

Mine is at #2...sometimes at 3 with a tiny drip. I think the culprit is my cam chain cover. 82K Miles

I was at #1 till I took the tray off...dooh!

The problem is that, while one may luck out and find an easy fix to take a #3 to a #1 or 2, it seems that often it takes several thousand dollars to do so. And if the rest of the engine is solid (compression, leakdown, etc), then its not worth the money just to stop a few drips on the garage floor.

Hiya Ian ! Mines was a 3, but after standing this winter it looks like a 4. I have quite a bad feeling that something has gotten worse, as I never had this in the last 3 winters. As you know that car runs well, and isn't exactly losing power, and so I would like to ge the leaks fixed, but not an engine rebuild(which I can't afford right now anyways).

Mine was a 4/5, but after a rebuild it's now a 1/2 (and I think the seepage is actually coming from the gearbox, bottom of the engine is dry)
