Thanks for all the good reading on this one. I am already picking up the rpms between shifts from 4000k to 5200 to 5400. Runs strong. I am sure that I will on occasion take it up to low 6s but dont want the kill the motor either. great feed back thanks. Mike

Have fun with it. 5400 rpm is just where it really starts to pull.

How much of an increase can you expect from inertia? The number stored in the DME as the "rev-limiter" is actually the RPM that fueling is turned back-on so the rev-limit is actually a bit higher (120 for the stock ECU programming).

Jason,
I always view the rev limit as the rpm where the fuel starts to turn off . The total turn off is pretty close.
The inertia part of the equation is tough to quantify. As we are talking about
motor inertia being translated into extra road speed , the load presented is the major element . From that , gear being used, uphill-down hill ,all have an influence.
I suppose we can take a little comfort in that all the normal compression loads are still present.
For race use I was always a big fan of the rev limit aproach warning light .
That removes the need to keep an eye on the rev counter .

In answer to the question, oh yes!!

My Cup Car seems to have two 'switches' with both an audible and tactile change to acceleration at 4200 and 5400......

Those red change lights really useful, can be set up to change when you want -four reds and it's time to change......
