Default 964 interior lights :(

Interior lights don't work at all on wife's 964. Clock itself works, but I changed fuse 11 anyway.. Nothing. Reostat **** on dash does nothing.

Think I have a big job on my hands? Could it be some relay???

Help...
PS: I DID do a search before I asked. Couldn't find anything..

Might want to check the button the door pushes in when it closes. It could be stuck in the closed position.

If by interior lights you mean entry lights, do they work when tilted left/right?

Thanks for the ideas, but neither worked. Not to belay the point, but the overhead light works (It's a Cab) when I open the door and it dings.

When I shut the door the ding stops and the light between the sunshades goes off after a few seconds.

Car starts fine, etc, but the dash instrument lights do not go on when I turn the headlights on/off, etc. They don't even work when I turn the key to the "on" position w/o starting motor.

The lights that don't go on are the instrument lights. IOW it doesn't matter how I rotate the reostat ****...nothing happens. However the clock itself (not the clock light) works. The clock and the instrument lights all work off Fuse #11, which I have changed twice.

I don't know how many bulbs light the instruments, or how to get at it or them. So I guess it must be the bulb(s), or the contacts on the little light **** on the dash.

Armed with that info does anyone have any more thoughts. I hate to bring this to a shop if I don't have to.

TIA,
Don

I think there are 20-30 bulbs in there so doubt all burned out at the same time!

Then it's either loose wires somewhere or the reostat ****. Will let you know what I finally find out. Thanks for eliminating some options.

FWIW, I "wiggled" the headlight switch and the dash light are working now. Checked with a mech and I need a new headlight switch.

Who knew...
