Default my idle acting weird

hi,
it's been going on for a bit and now i have to the time take it to the shop. I want to hear what you guys have to say so, i have some ground work before i talk to the mech. My car is 93 tip.

idle is ok but once i start to press on the gas peddle the rev would go up, when i let go then it would drop really low like 200rpm or sometime it just stall. This happen when engine is cold. When it get warm up to normal temp it still does it but not usually stall.

thanks again for your help
cheers

have you tried a DME reset? Just remove the negative battery cable for a few minutes, re-install, and go for a spirited drive.

Hi Tenn, mine is a 89 C4 and is doing exactly the same. Sorry this is not of any help but you're not alone with this.

I'm curious about the replies, so please folks - help us

Ck the tightness of each boot or sleeve on the induction side. The hose clamps will loosen just slightly over time.

Maybe cleaning the ISV would help? And check the carbon canister vent tube to see if it is blocked.

just about to take the car the mech and the alternator die out on me, so the car was flat bed to the shop. My mech swap it with the rebuild one.

The idle promblem went away at least for a day already. so i guess it could be 2 things either the reset of dme did it or the alternator was acting up and it cause the idle promblem?

peter i would try the dme reset as it the most easy thing to do. i hope it went a way from you, i know it's get real anoying!
cheers

sawasdee kap, Tenn
I just noticed you are from Thailand. I've worked in Bangkokand and Phuket as an aircraft engineer fo Niki Lauda. I have many good memories and (you may recall the loss 1991) one bad one as well.
Anyway, I am glad there's people from all over on this forum, and very helpful too.

Bets Regards
Peter

@ parsecnc4: thanks to you, I cleaned the ISV as per instructions and it's much much better.
But funny - now the alternator died on me, I was driving around a few days on battery power only recharging during nights. Anyway, the DME reset is obsolete.
