Default Another Wheel Question

I'm looking at a set of wheels for my stock 92.

Wheels are off a Boxster, Sports I believe is the model.

Fronts: 7.5 x 17, 55 Offset
Rears: 8.5 x 17, 48 Offset

Is that rear offset ok for a NB 964?

Also, any opinions if the 8.5's in rear look to narrow?

Thanks,
Ken

Ken, I have 7 x 17, 55 offset on the front, 9 x 17, 55 offset on the rear of my '91 C2. They work well. I'll take some close up pix of the rear of the car if it would help.

Thanks for the reply Fred.

The part I'm a little worried about are the 8.5 x 17 rears with a 48 offset. I'm not sure those would work well. Seems there are a little narrow and the offset is not quite right.

I'll do some more searching here to see what I can find.

The offset of ET48 on the 8.5 should be fine. You will actually get ~13MM more room on the inside when compared to 17x9 ET55. However, the 17x8.5 ET48 wheel will actually extend a marginal 1mm more than the 17x9 ET55.

Either wheel should work fine and I doubt if 17x8.5 will look too much narrower than a 17x9 when 255/40/17 tires are mounted.

Thanks Parsecnc4.
That helps me understand the overall setup. Is there a good link somewhere that fully explains the relationship between width and offset and spacers and how those three factors move wheels in and out in the wheel well?

Thanks,
Ken

Before you install those throw them on a scale please! I've been searching all over the place trying to find out what those Boxster and 996 17" twists weigh with no luck.

TIA
