Default Kumho 710's

I am about to replace my long time setup of Toyo RA1's and would like to move to 710's. Do the 245's fit? I have been running 245/40/18 on the RA's and they barely clear. I suspect that the Kumho's 245/35's would be okay since they are a bit shorter, but looking at the section width numbers from their website, they appear to be a bit wider than the Toyos. I hate to spend $$$ on a set only to find that they rub. Has anyone run 710's on their 964? All help appreciated.

I believe the 710's to be faster than the RA's and with two price bumps last year, the Toyos are now $100 more per set than the Kumho, Hoosiers, etc. Though one could argue that the Toyo's last longer that is not my objective. So, anyone have any experience with fit?

So am I to glean from the lack of any response that no one has run 710's on their 964? Let me try this from another direction. What is the widest front tire (brand and size) anyone is currently running?

Thanks in adance for a response.

I think you will find the most popular track tires are RA-1s, MPSCs and Hoosiers (and some non-710 Kumhos). I don't see many posts on 710s although I would like to try them someday. The Corvette guys love them and if you want some general opinions on 710s I would search at corvetteforum.com I know that doesn't help your fitment question though.

With my Cup 2 wheels I run 245/40/17 R6s or 235/40/17 up front with no spacers, but get quite a bit of rubbing in slow/sharp turns. In the rear I run 275s and use 15mm spacers and still get a little rubbing on the inside. I use these 15mm spacers and have some (extra) new ones if interested. I bought them for the fronts and they are too wide: http://www.boothedesign.com/spacers.html

Good luck,

Jim

You might get more responses in the racing forum.

Jim: Thanks for the response and the offer. I have some spacers in a box somewhere that I can play around with.

Greg: I tried the racing forum without much success.

Seems like I am going to have to be the guinea pig on this. I will be sure to post the results.
