Question "Lube holes" in spoiler drive unit?

Based on the excellent write-up on P-car, has anyone tried drilling 1 or 2 "lubing holes" before taking a decision on changing the bearings??

I remember an old thread about this but can't find it.

To change the bearing was simple just follow the P-Car page. The bearing is cheep, just 2 dollar. I have changed it on 3 cars so far, and every time the bearing was very rusty and the spoiler moved with a very irritating noise ... I think that drilling holes is just to invite moister to the gearbox.

I said it could be done a while ago .

"I think that drilling holes is just to invite moister to the gearbox."
My gearbox had water in it and that water had rusted the bearings .
The water gets in via the cable .
If you drill holes to lube the gearbox , water can get out via the holes .

I went over to P-car and he is talking about the other gear box repair .
The gearbox I was talking about is at the end of the motor .
