Default motor and chassis number mismatch?

Mi car a 964 tiptronic from the year 1991 and has an "M" number chassis, and a "L" motor number. Aparently the motor has not been never dismounted, has the plastic black admission colector.

Is a common mismatch that has been observed from others owners?
The only explanation is a motor change from a previous owner?

Thanks

I looked up your previous posts because you neglected to provide critical information in this post. You are in Spain I believe. If your VIN shows model year 1991 (M) and your engine serial number shows it is from 1990 (L) then you need to look at the identification label on the underside of the luggage compartment lid. What is written on this label for the VIN and the engine ident number?
Do you have the 964s service record book?
Here in Europe this would be considered quite unusual. In the USA they used option M718 to do this, but in most European countries this is not allowed. Maybe it is in Spain I don't know your laws.
What is a "black admission collector?"
Ciao,
Adrian.

Adrian:
Congratulations for your book, that I recently purchased.
I have seen the identification card in the boot: Thus, the car was sold in Germany "C00", after exported to Spain (2000) and the VIN number is wpozzz96zms406316, type of motor m6402-62m and type of gearbox A5001. After only the code of color and options. The number of motor (very difficult to see..) I think is 62L15770.
This is the aparent mismatch (Leter M versus L).
Thanks for your advice.
The black admission collector refers to the plastic admission

I think you mean plastic air intake which was introduced in August 1990. First of the ROW L series engines.
Okay your label says your 964 was delivered with a 1990 M series engine. M6402 is the engine type (Tip) and 62M says it's a 1990 engine.
Where are you seeing 62L15770. If this is the actual engine serial number on the crankcase by the engine fan then this clearly means the engine has been replaced.
Ciao,
Adrian.
