Default 1993 964 Question

Hi,

I am new to the Porsche world and am considering buying a 1993 964 from Weissach in Vancouver.

It has 77,000 km and looks like it is in great shape. The dealer says that they have serviced the car for the past several years and just spent $3500 to get it into showroom condition, including a new clutch. Any advice as to other things to look out for? They are asking $34,900 CAD.

This car would be mainly for pleasure driving and maybe a daily driver 1 or 2 days a week.

Thanks

Coupe, cab, targa? What options? At current rate, that's $30,000 US ? Assuming the car is really nice and checks out through due dilligence (PPI), pound them down a couple grand and it sounds like a good deal.

I looked for it on Weissach's site....I don't see it. Is it new inventory?

Seems like a lot for a coupe....especially with that 7% Provincial sales tax tacked on top...

Nicely optioned though...
Should be pristine at that price, from what I have seen.

???
I thought a coupe was what everybody wants.

Looks very nice. I like the sport seats. Great color combo.

Squeeze them down on the price a little and buy it!

For comparison: Las summer I bought a 92 C2 coupe in excellent condition with 58k miles down the road (a block away) from Weissach at The BMW Store for a few thousand less. Negotiate. Do the PPI, of course. Any records? Where is the car from?

Some comparisons for you:

I've seen that one you have listed in Alberta.....he's had it on his lot since last Spring. In my estimation, he's at least $6 grand over-priced...

Default 1993 964 Question - Weissach

My 2 cents.
Take a look @ Feb 2007 issue of Excellence and the market update for an excellent 93 C2 Coupe = $27,600 US. Low is $18,133.
Looks like a nice coupe. Must be worth $25-30k Cdn. Do they offer a warranty?
If you can get a years warranty that would add value.

Go for it!!
Listen, you can buy a similar car for less but it won't be as nice as this one.
Seems like they've sorted out all quirks and this is great! The boys at Weissach know their stuff and won't sell a lemon.

If I was looking I'd definitely consider this one as a top choice.

That's roughly what I paid this past summer for a '91. Looks good.

Pick up this issue. Bruce Anderson talks about some of the major issues to look out for with 964s. Good luck! Even if it is a good dealer, a pre-purchase inspection is worth the hassle. Contact someone in the local chapter (Wild Rose Region?) of the PCA to recommend and independent mechanic.

Thanks for all the info.

There is no warranty offered. Can anybody tell me roughly what it would cost per year to keep this car well-maintained. I estimate driving ~ 6000 km per year. Also, does anyone have any firsthand experience with Weissach in Vancouver? I have generally heard very good things about them.

Thanks again.
