I'm more worried about the noise test, think I will be on the limit of 101dbs with my G-pipe.
Thought about bring the old silencer and fixing it back on if it fails.
After I pass the noise test then I will worry about the weather.. forecast is light showers.

Yes, I've already taken my Cup pipe off and re-fitted the primary - was at about 103dB before. Apparently they're a bit flexible on the static test, it's the drive-by that's more important, so you can just short-shift going past the noise meters.

Ian,
A little off topic but I'd be very interested to know how much the Db's are reduced by refitting your primary silencer (can you post here following your noise check on friday).
What is your current exhaust set-up? My car has cat bypass, rear cup pipe and g-pipe replacing the secondary silencer. It reads almost 109Dba on Castle Coombe's testing equipment.
Many thanks,
Rich

Rich,
I normally run a cup pipe and cat bypass, but standard secondary - this came in at 103dB+ at Goodwood, and just under 105 at Combe. I'm hoping just putting the primary back will bring it down below 101dB. The other problem with a 911 is mechanical noise - the guy at Goodwood said they make an informal extra 1Db allowance on 911s in the static test (i.e. they'll use a higher limit), don't know if they do the same elsewhere.
Cheers

109!
There were some bloody loud cars at Brands 2 Sundays ago, I'm sure they weren't noise compliant! Seems a bit hit & miss as to whether they allow you or not...

At Bedford I think they are more concerned with the drive-by noise than the static. Last time I was there they told me I just breached the static limit (101dB?) but they said rear-engined cars tend to be a bit quiter on the drive-by. To reduce mechanical noise I push in the clutch during the static noise test.

I will be there too.
Finally put my rennlist sticker in the back window, and my CAT bypass pipe arrived yesterday...... not going to risk fitting today in case I ***** it up. :-)
Weather check = no rain, yippee!

Can someone point out the direction of travel, pits/start line on this map of the tack. Not been there before.

Looks like an RS in your avatar? What exhaust set-up are you running to get just over 101dB? I guess it's pretty standard - cat plus primary & secondary silencer?
Just trying to guage how much I'll need to put back on the car in order to be allowed on uk trackdays. I've still got the original parts - just love the sound as it is at the moment.
Richs RS - cat bypass, cup pipe, g-pipe - 108.9dB
Ians C2 - cat bypass, cup pipe and secondary silencer - 103-105dB
Tats RS - ???
Many thanks,
Rich
