Default Tunnel Run anyone?

I saw a programme a while ago about 'Tunnel Runs' - a late-night organised meet up in London where you turn up in your mean-sounding machine and proceed to tour all the tunnels of London with the sole aim of enjoying the noise bouncing off the walls! It looked awesome and I wonder if anyone here has heard of, been on one or would be up for it?

Pistonheads is one area of perusal.

So no-one likes hearing their engines then eh?! Not to worry, if I find details of a run I'll post them

As Kevin said, Pistonheads is the place where these things are organised. They usually do a couple over Christmas to take advantage of the 'quieter' roads (if you see what I mean).

Pistonheads Gassing Station
(please shout if I've broken Rennlist law by posting a link to another forum and I'll delete it immediately. )

Check out 'events/meeting/travel' or 'porsche' specific forums for details of any Tunnel Runs. Most runs are not Porsche only - you'll see a mix of cars from tuned Saxos to Lamborghinis, pagani zonda, etc.

And of course post details here if there are any coming up soon.

I enjoy the tunnels under the track and into the infield at Daytona. Short but very sweet

Even better - the long tunnel at Rouen on the way to/back from Le Mans in convoy with other suitable machinery, preferably without standard exhausts....! Top down and 2nd gear... says it all! ;-)

I'd forgotten about our little run the other year, Rouen definitely gets the thumbs up here....

I'd certainly be up for tunnel runs in the UK.

PS: They need to be kept low-key to keep safe and numbers and attention (from authorities) low!

I've done my own Tunnel run today - under the Mersey to the Wirral and back via the Wallasey (Kingsway) Tunnel. If you're particularly sad, rumble through in third (40mph limit) and then give it some as you exit the tunnel tube. Mind you, the toll is £1.30 each way - I feel like I've bought the damn tunnel myself over the last thirty years!

I'm a pistonheads london tunnel runner, sorry it took a while to chime in! They are great fun, but started to get a bit frisky, so they're harder to find out about now. If you can get on one you really should do it...particually if you've tinkered with your exhaust...

Cheers Graham - will you post when the next one is coming up? Would be great to have a good 94 turnout to show 'em all how noise should really sound!

i think mine just with a G pipe sounds pretty cool, but some of these guys have decatted TVR Cerberas - they just blow fuel stright out the back essentially - all bangs, all the time. Hard to compete with that given that our cars have engine management, the Tiv's seem not to...they therefore rule the roost in tunnels...but if youre behind one the unburnt fuel does make you sick after about 10 mins...
