Default 'Laid Up' Insurance Cover - UK

My road tax & insurance finish in December. So I intend to declare a SORN and not reinsure for road use until April 2007. My car is in a locked garage underneath the house. Any guidance as to where to get the best deal for laid up insurance (which I imagine will be fire, theft and accidental damage) would be very welcome! If you have done this I would appreciate your views - for instance does the car become 'contents' and therefore would it be covered on the house contents insurance?

Just asked the wife and she said that our cover only covers £3,000 in the garage so you will have to let your house insurers know that the Porsche will be in storage over the winter and they may up the contents, remember insurance only covers the rebuild value of the house not how much its worth.

Heritage Insurance will quote for 'laid up' cover. Don't think the house insurance will cover it as it's not 'household goods or chattels'; no doubt they will tell you that's what car insurance is for!
