Where is the outside temp sensor?

My On Board Computer Reads -40 °C which I guess means some problem with the sensor. I was traing to locate it somewhere under the front bumper on the left side but no success. I have removed the blinker and then the lowel spoiler plastic covering but did not find it.
Where should it be located? And how are the wires going?

P.S. My car is a 1991 964 ROW Tiptronic coupé built in 9/1990

Thanks

I thought it was in one of the mirrors. But I'm not sure why I think that.......

Left side outside mirror for LHD and right side outside mirror for RHD.
Ciao,
Adrian.

It's in the driver's side mirror. Dan

Yes, it is in the left outside mirror.
If the connections are switched (due to new teardrop mirror installation.. :) )
then it will give a wrong temperature.

Thanks guys, that will be the problem. There are aero mirrors and they react exactly the oposite - move the joystick left, mirror goes right. Somebody may have mismatched that.

Mine is in the passenger mirror and gives the wrong temp. reads about 20 deg F too low. Can the wires be switched?

I learnt this from "THE BIBLE"

I mean, Adrian's book...

Wait, onboard computer? What am I missing? Where does the temperature read out on your car!!?? Am I on the 996 forum?

standard on a TIP option on a stick

OK, I had no idea that some 964s came with a computer. Learn something everyday I guess!

Computers are not needed. If its cold when you get in the car you know the outside temp is low. If on the other hand its hot when you get in, you can guess the outside temp is high... simple.

The thing I like most about the on board computer is the digital speedo. It reminds me of the 996. There is also a big digital number on the tachometer and then an analog needle on the sporadicly numbered speedometer.

Ciao,
Adrian.

Just another thing to go wrong IMO. Could be jealous cause i havent got one tho... I do like the idea of knowing the MPG. Does it also tell you how many miles you got left before filling up??
