Default Is it possible to use 11x19 and 9x19 wheels?

Before you start blasting with the getto/rice comments I have to say I may have to fit them just for a few days (no track):

Is it possible to fit 11x19 and 9x19 wheels on a 1990-C2 ?
Will spacers make enough 'room' to make this work?

Car is stock (you know with the SUV look)

Thanks

Jasper,

At a guess I'd say no. With a standard narrow body I have severe doubts that there is enough room for an 11" rim at the rear - regardless of spacers.

A 9" rim on the front will almost certainly contact the chassis on anything close to full lock. Again, I doubt spacers will help you any.

A turbo body would be a different matter - but that's another story!!

Regards

Dave

Oracle, I hope this works with little or no issues. Please post pics when you have them on.

I think Adrian had 19inch Sportec alloys on at one point no? not sure of the width of them or what if any mods he had to do to make em fit.

8.5x19 on the front with 50mm offset with 225 tyres.
10x19 on the rear with 50mm offset with 265 tyres.
Special steering stops manufactured by Sportec (two piece which did not require removal of the steering rack) were installed.
These steering stops were required to stop the tyres rubbing inside. The turning circle was worse than my Alfa 145 and that is saying something.
I totally agree with Christer that anything wider will not fit properly.
9x19 and 11x19 are simply too wide.
The maximum size width that can be fitted to the rear regardless of offset is 10 inches. Anything wider will rub on the inside, take out the oil line and rub on the outer rim of the fender even if you roll it.
A lot of people make the mistake of looking at these things with only a static view. They measure them up and say well I have a few mm here and there so it will okay. What they forget is the dynamic aspect. What happens when the body rolls or the wheel goes over a bump? Wheels that are too wide instead of rubbing can actually rip things out. I have seen the entire bumper assembly on a 964 ripped apart from the inside by a wheel that was simply too wide. Somewhere I have a video of a 964 that shredded all its tyres on the fender rims which also resulted in serious body damage.
On last point is that a good set of 19 inch tyres are extremely expensive. Does anyone really want to spend this kind of money just on tyres?
Ciao,
Adrian.

Thank you all for your replies and comments.
I'm glad I didn't jump the gun and bought those wheels...

So I'll keep looking for wheels for my 1990-C2. The ones I like are usually 18" or 19"
Seems to be the wheel selection for Porsche is quite limited compared to other builds...

Thanks

Oracle.....there's a local guy with some 17 inch rims/tires. He's had them listed on eBay 3 times now....who knows....he might be willing to talk turkey on the price.
