Too funny, this is my second (I think) post in this thread - but I drive my car year round and often on long (4 hour business trips) and I removed my stereo and all the speakers and replaced everythign with custom made textured plastic "blanking" plates. willie

- when you haven't driven your 911 for 4 weeks you are not concerned by that puff of smoke back there
- when you are driving along the freeway you use on-ramps as overtaking lanes

I took the dimensions of the old speaker grilles and had ABS "haircell" textured plastic sheet stock (the same stuff older dashboard tops are made of) CNC machined (including flush screw holes) to fit over where the two speakers on each door would have been as well as the rear deck speakers would have been.

back in the day, one could call CRUTCHFIELD and get speaker covers/blanking plates - but now, apparently most everyone wants a stereo in their car and they do not make these plates any more, so after lots of tries to car audio shops - i finally gave up on the idea I was going to find some actual factory made speaker covers and had some custom made.

I grew up in the 70's and early 80s and my old man ALWAYS ordered his GM cars with the radio delete option. sometimes for sportiness, but usually for cheapness! I like listening to my exhaust sound.

I'll get some photos up at some point

When you volunteer to run an errand. . . anywhere. As long as you can take the Porsche.

I love that one. I'm an eye doctor, but I haven't had a patient who brought in his or helmet yet. I've had people bring in their hunting guns though.

Hey Boston911fan, I used to live in RI and whenever I passed through your town I would tell my then girlfriend, now wife, that I was going to steal the sign from 95N and put it over my bed. The sign says...........wait for it........Entering Sharon. Her name of course. 20 years and I'm still an adolescent.

I work in Warwick. That's funny. Great, now I'm gonna think of your wife every time I see that sign.

How come air-cooled 911, 944, and 924 drivers wave, but the 996, 997, and Boxster people don't? I still don't get it.

Probably because they bought the car for the cache and not the bloodline. They aren't all bad. I had a GT3 pull along side me when I was driving my car down south from Mass, I was in Connecticut. He gave me the thumbs up and then backed off. Good thing, I didn't want to have to smoke him while he had his girl with him. Could've been embarrassing,. Lol.

This is no joke. As soon as I said that I have never had a patient who raced with a full-face helmet and glasses, one walks in. However, he did not bring his helmet because his glasses fit fine, so I guess my story isn't really that funny.

No matter where you go with your 964, your luggage arrives first.

Excellent. That guy must be on rennlist. I bring my full face helmet to buy sunglasses, nothing wrong with that.

I used to go shopping on my Harley bagger so I'm already well versed in this. The P car has way more room, Lol.

... you'll drive some extra miles to save a couple of £'s / $ for something for the house, but if it's something for the 964 ..... what the heck you've got to have it !
