Default 993 guages interchangeable with 964?

I would like to know if the gauges used in 993's are interchangeable with 964's. Found a set with white faces which I would like to consider dropping in to my 964, but is concern if they are interchangeable. On surface, the 993 gauges readout have the same information (OBC, Tiptronic, etc) as my 964, but would like advise from people on this matter before giving it a try. Would not want to drop them in and fry my dash/electronics.

It looks like (based on PNs) the "Combination Instrument" that is the oil temp/oil pressure guage is different in the 993. Looks the same, probably different warning light?.
The other look like 964 PNs were used in the 993.

I am only guessing but I'd suspect it could still work in a 964.

That makes the decision quite hard even though there is confirmation on the tach being interchangeable. It would not do much good if the clock, speedo and other gauges are not going to work.

Perhaps you could have your gauges sent to Hollywood Speedo to have the faces changed to white?

Maybe that's a better choice then to gamble and lose big with electrical problems. Wonder how much Hollywood Speedo would be since I could get the complete set of 993 gauges and clock for $500.

I fitted the clock from a 993 to my 964 approx 3 weeks and it works perfectly.

I'll try again: ALL of the guages in the 993 are 964 part numbers EXCEPT the one I mentioned above.
With a little effort I would guess it could also work though I am not certain.

Mark,

Thanks for the clarification. I must have read too quickly and misunderstood your post.

Cool

humm... I changed mine at home... not a difficult task at all. I think the cost of the faces were less than US$200.00... need to go back and look at my folder of mods and receipts... I got them from NR

Seems price has gone up to US$230.00...

But there are Rennlist sponsors that carry them...

Thanks - still a pretty good price.

Cheers,
