Default Horn Problems. Looking for some help.

What are some reasons for a failed horn OTHER THAN the following:

-bad relay (my relay is good)
-bad horn (horns are good)
-bad buttons (buttons are fine)

My horn doesn't work, which sucks because now I can't honk at the numerous idiot drivers! Need to fix this ASAP.

What else can/should I test?

Thnx,
Harry

connections to any of the above.
Wires damaged

both horns not working? if so that helps narrow it down.

I would definitely check the connections. The horns are exposed to all sorts of crap and the connections get corroded. The slightest amount of corrosion creates so much resistance that the horn won't work.

Have you tried reading voltage to the horn connection when the horn button is pressed?

Bringing this thread back 'cause I need to fix this damn thing:

Neither button works.
Neither horn works.

It used to work just fine until I honked at somebody one day, then it kinda went "hon-on-on-on-onk" and died out; never to come back to 'life' again.

wtf. i don't feel like tearing my front bumper and/or steering wheel off just to fix a stinkin horn.

I went thru this earlier this year. I tried everything, including tearing apart the horns and doing the adjustment process which I think is a waste of time. Turned out my horns just up and died. I replaced them with $30 generics and all was fine again.

Do the buttons work, even a little, if you hold them down and turn the wheel back and forth? It could be the contact ring has gone dry and needs electrical contact lube. Mine are a bit intermittent and if I hold the button down and turn the wheel back and forth a few times they work better. It's always the straight on section that's the worst. Of course.

Ditto on this.....
Make sure it isn't your horns, you may be suprised. Also don't pay $70 from the dealer like I did. Cost me twice as much as Pelican parts.

Have you checked with a voltmeter to see if the horns are getting power when you press the horn button?

I am having the same issue.. -just yesterday I spent the hour pulling the horns and checking/ajusting them. They get voltage.. but it takes a bit of time.. holding the button in, I hear the relay click.. then about a half second to a second later the voltage goes up to the 12+ or so.. but it takes a moment. Also the horn buttons are pretty intermittent.. they work sometimes. If its the horn ring, is there any danger of trying to fix it with the airbag system in the steering wheel? Is there any info on this contact ring (which I suspect it is now...?)

Anyone install any of those FIAMM Air horns on your cars? They are loud and sound cool..in an Italian sort of way.

Your bumper does not have to come off to access the horns.

Just remove the left front wheel and the wheelwell cover.

And its not the voltage , its the amps .

"-bad relay (my relay is good)
-bad horn (horns are good)
-bad buttons (buttons are fine)"

How do you know that the relay , horn , buttons are fine ?
