Is the Targa bar an actual roll bar? How rigid is it? Tried to find some info and came up empty.
On another note I put on my new Cup 1s (OEM 7/9") to replace my D90s/Yokohamas and shod them with Toyo T1R's....Awesome! The car handles so much better/tighter and to my suprise quieter and smoother. Look forward to the Bilstiens/HRs.
Pix soon.
Thanks.

I don't have any real info but the factory marketed the targa as a "safety convertible" because of the bar. I also know that many track organizations allow the targas to run without requiring an additional roll bar like they do for cabs.
But for real track use I think even coupes shouold have roll bars put in and for wheel to wheel racing full cages are highly recommended.

At my last race, a 911 Targa rolled twice. The guy had a roll bar installed, and it was interesting that the Targa bar didn't even budge! The front windscreen was totally smashed flat, but the targa bar maintained an equal distance from the roll bar. I expected it to smash down into it, but it held up great even with two rolls!
