Question Continuous build-up of electrolytic battery gunk in trunk under spare tire.

Does anyhone else get this? I get a continuous build-up of this stuff. I figure it must be related to my having the car always on a battery tender when it's sitting in the garage. Is there any solution?

Do you have the battery vent tube hooked up?

An over charge can cause this .
What battery tender are you running ?
Does it have a read out on it to show what its doing ?
Got a mulitimeter ?

All of the above and...

be sure to neutralize and clean up that acid. It will keep doing it's thing until you have battery tray ventilation. Baking soda and water mixture to clean up (after source of leak is resolved).
If there is a lot of it and it just seems to keep coming back or there is corrosion through the trunk's coating, you can paint the area with POR15. You can get the stuff on Amazon.com

in reference to the type/brand of battery tender question, I have been using the Porsche "Charge-o-mat" that plugs into the cigarette lighter and have never had this issue.
