Default Swopping Over Sports Seat Backs

Following on from an earlier post I made I have been told that the passenger seat back (no worn bolster) can be taken off and swopped over with the driver seat back (worn bolster on doorside - RHD car). This would mean that the worn bolsters were on the inside position improving the appearance of the interior considerably.

Question is has anybody done this and what is the procedure? Do the seats have to be removed - I guess they do. Help and comments appreciated as always!

Adrians book does not cover this but it does say there are alternative factory installed fixings available which enable the seat to be fitted 22.5 mm further back for long legged people (like me!) Has anybody also done this?

moving the seat back is easy , just undo 4 bolts , move it back to the next set of holes and re-bolt !!!

as for seat backs , i've done it on vw recaros , but i'd recommend you contact micheal junior at mj interiors .

hes my vw trim man . piece of cake for him .

Surely you can't swap the backs? On my seat back there is a lever which tilts the back forwards, in the unlikely event that somebody wants to sit in the back seats. If you swapped them, wouldn't that be on the inside of the seat?

For what it's worth - I had a quote recently, and a complete retrim of the front seats was about £1K from Southbound.

I have the seat release levers on both sides of both seats. I like it very much, actually.

Bloody hell, you're right. 5 years and one month I've owned my car, I've covered 45k miles and I never noticed that! (My car is 17 this month by the way).

did anybody notice that you only find out the inner handles are very stiff through lack of use when you sat in the rear seat one day on your own and had to become a contortionist to climb out ??

Although I have a friend how claims he had 5 up in his Porsche once - 2 girls (about 18-20) in the back, and him, his mate and another girl in the front. Highly illegal however it sounded like what he and his mate got upto with the girls would also be classified as illegal. Lucky bugger

we piled four into a 2002 C4S and one was laid up for a week with a blown out back - nevermind that the back seats of a 996 are like an airporrt limo compared to those of a 964. heck, i'm actually IN the back seat when I have the front seat comfortably ajusted!
