Asimler and Dave re the console LED's you dont need a diode (the LEDS are one) but you will need a small value resistor dependant on the LED's you buy as some have them built in.
An LED once Lit will attempt to draw more and more current than it can handle until it pops , the resistor limits this.. But as I say check to see what you put in as some have them built in.

I bought the same ones as you - but blue, not white. Do I need a resistor? And if so - where do I put it?

Those dont need them..I'm talking about the three on the center console which are soldered to a pcb.
Sorry if I confused you..

Ah, OK - I seem to be easily confused about this!

The centre console is something I've been meaning to do for (literally) years. One of the bulbs has blown but it's the kind of thing that's easy to forget about.

looks neat, although I'm not sure of if that is in a trendy kind of way. Reminds me of VW's....blue is a harder light to focus on, and I suspect that is why no one but VW or other cars that try to be trendy use blue.

Dave I just might be able to help you there.
I bought a spare center console unit (for the switches) of ebay a little while back and still have a spare board. I plan to get some bright white LED's for mine and if you want to cover cost of LED's and P&P I'll do the spare one for you.

Absolutely - that would be excellent. PM me how much / where to send a cheque to and I'll send it straight out!

Quick question. Is it easy to remove all the gauges? Are there just a multi stick on the back or what?
The reason I ask is that my Porsche are going to hibernate in a garage 300 km from where I live, so I would like to remove them completely and bring them back home for an LED upgrade during the winter.

It's easy to remove them - they just pull out (although they are a bit of a tight fit). If you are careful you can prise them out with a flat blade - but be careful you don't damage them / one of the other clocks while you are doing it.

I have a feeling that one of them (tacho?) won't come out without the steering wheel being removed? I will no doubt discover this at the weekend when I do mine - although I have a non-standard steering wheel so maybe I'll get away with it.......

Dave and others doing this ....Remove the steering wheel first. It makes things so much easier and less chance of damage to the gauges

I wired my centre console about 3 years ago, the write up is on John Miles site, although I used 28V LED's as it's all we had at the time, so they do last well.......

Well, I just fitted mine - pretty happy with them.

I did order the wide angle ones - but it's still noticeable that there is a bulb under the '40' on the speedo, and the rev counter is definitely brighter near the '2' and '7' - but looking at the photos at the start of the thread, that seems to be true there too.

One thing I did notice - the oil temp / pressure gauge has two lights in it, but only one of mine works - although it still seems bright enough and evenly lit. Should they both work?

Yes both should be on.
Is the bulb 180 deg out or not contacting properly.
What I done was had the clock hanging out and checked by switch the lights on to make sure they all lit properly.

I did the same thing - that's how I know that particular one didn't work. I tried it both ways - and tried a known working LED in case I'd somehow got a dud. It just doesn't work. Guess there is a problem with the gauge itself - but it's not too much of a problem. The light on that clock does look bright enough and even - it's only because I was checking each one to make sure it was the correct way around that I found that it didn't work.
