Default MAF Help required

I have just installed an Autothority MAF. When the standard airbox was removed there a 3/4 inch (approx) black rubber hose that was connected to the standard airbox. Can anyone tell me what this is for and should it be open or blocked off.

Also everything seems to be working fine except idle is a little high (around 1200RPM) and it hunts a little-no problem with stalling though- I am guessing that when I use the Bosche hammer we will be able to correct this.

Any help on the hose will be appreciated.

My RSA has no 3/4" hose but it does have a (blocked) connection on the airbox for one.

Can you located the other end of the hose or does it just disappear somewhere into the engine bay?

Not necessarily. The interface box, i.e. MAF to AFM voltage level transformations,
may not be set properly, or the EPROM transformation maps/coding may be incorrect,
depending upon which approach was used.

Remember, the adaptation mode provided by using the Hammer/PST2 is VERY limited on how
it can affect the 964 Motronic DME parameters and thus the engine's running.

It disappears behind the engine and without major work its hard to follow. I have blocked off the line-I have a 50/50 chance of being right. I was hoping that someone might say that the hose to the ????

I seem to recall that some part of the tranny perhaps had a vent that connected to the airbox but the memory is vague and may be mistaken.
