Engine oil cooler on 964 motor
Is it possible to install an engine mounted oil cooler on a 964? I have a conversion car and don't use power steering and wanted to know if this is possible. If anyone has the answer I would appreciate it.
Thanks

What year of manufacture is the chassis? All 964 bodies have a oil cooler in the right front wheelwell. There is no factory oil cooler on the engine or in the engine bay or anywhere within 10 feet of the engine.
If the chassis is of a different vintage then the engine, your question will have different answers.

I've never done this so caveats are in order as far as my thoughts.
The 964 case is not finished to receive the cooler. You will have to have the case bosses drilled and finished for the seals at a machine shop. Call Ollies in Anaheim, Ca. they have probably done this mod, mostly I suspect to install the late oil filter which is same case finish machine work as a cooler.
You will have to modify your engine shroud with a duct to get air to the cooler, but you probably knew that. Maybe the duct from an early shroud can be removed and re-opop riveted to the new shroud.
