Has anyone done it?
What brand enamel did you use and what paint code was it? (looking to do maroon not red)
Did you clear coat it as well?
Thanks in advance

I would imagine that you could strip it and take it to a plating company for less money! This would open up several types of finishes. Gold, silver, nickel, brass, copper, etc. As far as the paint type... I'm not sure that it is plain ole' enamel. The paint it transparent, at least on the ones I have and have seen. It almost looks to be a transparent plastic that has been melted/baked into place. If you really wanted to try it you could strip off the finish with a chemical stripper and then repaint and bake the badge. It might be fun to try with an old one!

I paid about $25 for an original one so you can see why I made the comment!
