Default Sold my 964

My 964 has been wonderful but i fancied a change.
The car has been 100% reliable ,but always had fears at the back of my mind that something bad(expensive) was going to happen
I am shocked at how fast it sold-put advert on pistonheads last night ,got phone call this morning, and did the deal tonight.
Im going to relace it with something newer and sporty-quite possible an audi tt coupe (yeah they are common as muck) but drive /look nice and pretty reliable.
I will still pop my head in now and again.
Many thanks for all the support and advice

I've always liked TT's, but around here they are almost strictly 'chick' cars. But then, hey - their club meets might be really interesting!

My boss has a TT (actually, I think technically he's the boss of my boss). The only problems he's had are a leaking hose from the fuel tank - and me repeatedly telling him it's a hairdressers car.

As a daily runaround I wouldn't mind one though. As a sports car, I don't think I'd bother.

Hi Stu -

good to see that the market is moving - mine is the Red '89 C4 <- that was posted on Pistonheads around the same time as yours - you did do well to shift it so quickly!

dont get a TT though - mate bough on last year (same time as I got the 964)
he was gutted by the performance and drive

(i did let him take mine out for a spin as a point of relativity though

Cheers Timmer good luck with yours , i was suprised mine went so quickly as i had been advised toby a local porsche guy to wait until may.I wasnt desperate to sell but the pistonheads advert was free.
Perhaps ive sold too cheap put it in for £11995 and got 11750.
mind it`s due a big service so i priced it accordingly.
Everyone seems to rate the tt as a hairdressers car ! that along with porsche boxsters/mr2`s ,i kind of think of them as a pretend porsche on the styling front.
On paper the performance figures of the 225hp version look quite respectble, and tuning to 265hp just requires a remap (amd oneclick a dongle type device wich plugs into a port by the ashtray) this can be reverted a touch of a button....cool
As for known faults -the dashpod on somecars fail which audi now will replace foc.
Some instances of coil packs failing and the normal cambelt/waterpump at 50k or 4 years.
The cars im looking at have 50-60k on the clock and full audi history and can be had for around 11k.
Anyhow i could always return to the porsche marque in the future

Actually - I think you should definitely post here a month or so after you've bought your new car (whether it's a TT or something else). I'd be interested in how a replacement compares - what you miss / what you like about the new car etc.

IIRC, the early TT's had a bad rep for going end-for-end rather easily - supposedly remedied in later models by a suspension change.
Of course, our cars have that rep too, don't they?!

We'll I'm selling my C4 tomorrow too. I'm actually selling it to the guy that sold me my other Porsche - 86 Carrera. He and I became friends after I bought his 86 and once he saw my 89 he wanted first dibs once I decided to sell it.

I love my C4, but honestly I gotta say I love the 86 more. It's basically a toy. It eventually didn't make sense to keep the 89 and the 86. So I'm saying goodbye to the C4 tomorrow.

Most Audi tt`s have been retofiited with suspension mods and rear spoiler and quite a few have been retro fitted with ESP bit like the c4 system

The 964's been reliable and 'wonderful', so it gets sold. Some reward for great service..

So..How about a Boxster? S2K? Elise? 350Z? Slap 'round the face with a wet fish?

its funny, i just sold my car few days ago to a doctor in missouri. the transporter is coming to pick it up tonight. i will miss it. after owning 6 porsches cabs, i have had enough. this time iam buying a coupe. iam also considering a 944 turbo again, i do miss my old 89 turbo, 350whp, it was a thrill to drive.
the audi TT S are nice cars, and depreciation is making them very affordable . my soon to be ex wife and i were on our way to buy a local coupe for 10k with 65k miles, by the time we got the guy's house, he was counting the cash of someone else. i was really pissed, but i now iam very happy i still have my 10k in my pocket .
