Default Rear Blower Motor

Considering repairing the rear blower motor on my 91 C2. Rather than buying a salvaged motor or bearing the expense of buying a one new I'm considering purchasing the Blower motor assembly from performance Products and just replace the internal electric motor. Has anyone done this?

I removed the rear blower and installed the by-pass pipe. Looks cool and lightens up the rear by about 2 lbs......I think its faster too

Hi Peter,
I did this about 10 days ago on my C4 - it's dead easy and Adrian Streather's book gives a really clear guide to this job..
Got a new Bosch motor for about £100 sterling from Berlyn Services in the UK and the whole job of removing the fan assembly, dismantling it, installing motor and refititng assembly took about an hour.
I didn't realise just how noisy my old assembly was until I heard the new motor running!

Regards,
David

hi-- had the same problem on my 90 c4 cab. when the bearings go bad it sounds like a squirrel is caught back there. there is a really detailed tech article on pelican auto parts that explains this great. the 964 motor assembly is not available, and you use the 993 assembly which requires that you swap out the metal bushings. really simple job, and the pictures and explanation are great. it took less than an hour to do the job. i think the new motor and assembly were around 400 bucks. good luck------tom

Hi Peter,
I replaced the resistor as a matter of course - it's only a few pounds and very easy to do. It's two spade connections and then a push fit in the duct.

David

Photos Allan? Please? If the blower is just for pushing hot air I am tempted to remove it (living in Florida you look for cool air, shade, etc. not hot air ). It will also allow me to see more of the engine, make it easier for servicing, etc... only if it does not causes additonal issues...
