Hi, This is really a minor annoyance but my gas guage doesn't read correctly. All the gauges came from another car and my guess is the donor car had a larger gas tank than my 91 C2. I can fill the tank to the absolute top and the guage will not show full. So I'm wondering, if my guage doesn't show full on one end does that mean I am more or less empty on the other end, or doesn't it matter. I'm always afraid to take it below 1/4 fearing that I may not have 1/4 of a tank left. So, can I fix this, do I have to fine another gas guage or can it be recalibrated or do I replace the insides for the correct tank size. A little guidance is always appreciated. I posted a while back for someone to identify what kind of guages these are and what kind of car they came from and those that responded didn't have too much good to say about them and then really didn't find out what model/year they came from.

I don't know whats going on with the gauges .
Do you know how big your tank is ?
If you do , next time you fill it up check how much it takes to fill it .
That will tell you how much was is in the tank .
If the gauge said 1/4 full when you drove in but you put in 1/2 to fill it ....
If the gauge said 1/4 full when you drove in but you put in 3/4 to fill it .......
If the gauge said 1/4 full when you drove in but you put in 99/100 to fill it.....
The gauge could be messed up
The sender could be messed up
Without more info about what ya got for a gauge and or sender its hard to have any real good ideas about fixing this that or the other .

Hello, since 6 months I own a 964 C4 of 1991 and it has a problem nobody could fix yet.
Running the car a low revs sometimes it will not run smoothly but with hick-ups and also during the accelleration it runs bad, when stopping the engine will not keep idle and stalls. The real problem is that the car doesn't always have the problem and sometimes runs perfectly for hundereds of Km's.
The car was checked by 2 porsche dealers but they couldn't locate the problem, all the ignition cables were changed but this made no difference....
Any idea what could cause this problem? All ideas will be more than welcome!

Hiya MMartini
I would love to see the car in person .
Do you work on cars ? Are you comfortable / happy to work on your own car ?
Where in Italy ?
If I help you fix it , can I drive it around Italy ?
