Question 911 Virgin

Hi

I am about to buy my first 911 and have seen a 964 C2 Targa Tip. The only worry I have (actually the Main worry) is that at some time the front windscreen has been removed or replaced and now the seal does not seem very good. In fact it is possible to lift the edge of the rubber and see in.

Should I worry about this? I know that some models of 911 were susceptable to rust around the windscreen. Is the 964?

Many thanks

Hi. that does not sound good to me. Have you had the car inspected by a porsche specialist?

No , the car has not been inspected. I guess I should but I tend to be a bit impulsice when it comes to cars!

The car is really quite nice and has full OPC service history so I am tending to overlook it's bad points.

When you say "see in" , do you see into the car or just see under the rubber ?

Where are you and where is the car ?

Just remember these cars can cost a lot if they go wrong. an inspection may save you a lot of money in teh long run!

I too am an impulsive car buyer I leaned the hard way

I mean just under the rubber. Not into the car. I am located in the south of England.

"I am located in the south of England."
Ask the seller if you can drive it around for a day , take the thing to see a few rennlisters . I hear that
Telford is a great place to visit .

lol Yeah by all means come up here however you are better off visiting someone who knows what they are on about I know nothing

(although in the UK its very very unlikely anyone would let a prospective buyer take a car for that long)

There are plenty of southern rennlisters. there may be one local. its a possibility that the car may even be known by someone on here.

Hows it steer , hows it 0-150 , hows the brakes , etc etc etc .
All the important stuff .

Tell the owner, "You can ride along - or I can give you a report when I get back."

OR - "I'll pass on your car 'cause it needs a new clutch - and it's in a ditch a half-mile down the road. Have a nice day!"

I even insisted on riding on the test-drive with the guy that did my alignment. I said, "Don't think I'm watching your every move - but I am."
It didn't slow him down much - something about P-cars brings that out in people.

Where in the south of england? There are indeed quite a lot of us down here, so if it's close one of us might be able to take a look.
Definitely get a PPI though. I was also impulsive, and it cost me lots in the long run.
