Default Rattle and Loss of Power

Seems I am getting quite the rattle under power. I should actually say under accceleration as I have a noticable bogging down and lack of pull at the same time. It sounds almost like an exhaust shield but the loss of power would seem to illiminate that. I searched the archives and thought maybe a bad CAT. I took the shield off the CAT and wrapped on it with my hand....sounded like there could be some loose junk in there.

Does this sound like the culprate? Thanks in advance for any help.

It might be a good idea for you pull the cat for a looksee .
Mine broke apart inside and pluged / bunged itself .

indy,

i'll go ahead and pull it. I was hoping somone here had a similar experience.....actually that sounds kind of rude. I hope everyone here has nothing but trouble free motoring. But, if anyone has had the misfortune of a rattle and loss of power....feel free to comment.

Thanks,

Jamie

I had the same rattle noise and the exhaust blocked power loss thing in another car that i used to own a couple of years ago. I replaced the cat and it cured the problem. It really did sound like an exhaust heat shield rattle at first but when i took it in to the shop they told me it was the cat, plus i actually saw the old cat side by side with the new one, the internal honeycombe stuff on the old one had broken up. Apparently poor running can cause the cat to go bad prematurely so it might also be worth checking this as i had a slight misfire too.

regards

Andy
