Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
I just received from PCA my certificate of authenticity for my 90 C2 Cab. It took about 6 weeks to get it, and when I started reading it, I was surprised.
First off, my car, although purchased used, came to me with a cashmere interior, both seats and carpeting. The original seats were black leather, to my surprise!
On the optional equipment list, it lists Club Coupe Specification---does anyone know what this means?
Other than that, it is a nice piece of paper to have with my car when I enter it in concours events.

I was thinking about getting this too... I bought my 964 from a private party out of town, and neither my brother who test drove it, nor the local Porsche dealer mentioned that the underhood sticker was gone. Of course it took me a few weeks to realize it was gone too... driving fun distracted me.
So where does one go about applying for the certificate?
Thanks in advance!
Best, Brad

Jeremy... Mine came with black interior also... The PO switched it to cashmere... Nice certificate. I've always wanted to get a copy of the window sticker but was told that they are not available any more. I guess that certificate would work though...

Thanks Jason -- yeah - they also neglected to mention that the manual was missing. The PO said he would look for it but couldn't find it. How hard is it really keep the manual in the car?
The fact that my brother missed all this stuff when I had given him the chapter on what to look for when buying a used Porsche from Streather's Enthuisasts Companion.... He's family, I can't get rid of him now!

I just got off the phone with PCA and informed them of the situtation. As you can see from the option sticker I posted, they missed quite a few items on the COA....How did they miss the limited slip differential???? They admitted to not having the codes quite up to date for the cars from the late 80s, and I guess for the 964s as well. At least I know now that it was their error and not something I had no idea about.
They are going to reissue a new COA....I emailed PCA a pic of the option sticker, so hopefully they can get it right!

Forget the COA! The price has gone up over the years recently, and the quality has gone WAY down. We used to rely on them for 356s and other things I am involved in. But now we know that they are suspect at best. Ever since the German privacy laws tightened up, and you can no longer get the original factory Kardex (build record), the system has relied on at least two transcriptions of information with a language interpretation along the way. You are lucky you don't get some old WWII Tank records!
The last one I had that I relied upon was faxed to me by Jurgen Barth.

I wrote Mercedes about my 1964 230SL and they sent me a xerox of the original build card for my car with the born on date, all serial numbers for transmision, engine and other major parts. Cost? $0
and i got it in 4 days.
Why is Porsche so **** about everything??
