Has anyone experienced discoloration of their paint caused by a bra. I purchased a Colgan bra for when I did DE and otherwise left it off. I left just the hood piece on for several weeks because my front end was getting beat up from the daily commute (Chicago streets are always under construction) and when I finally took it off I discovered to my horror that there is discoloration from the front tip of the hood to about half way up where the bra covered. During the day, my car is parked in a garage so it only sees direct sunlight when I'm driving it. Car is Arctic Silver and it looks awful.
Has anyone had a similar problem? if so, did the discoloration eventually fade? Am I looking at a new paint job? Needless to say I'm not using the bra anymore.

Sorry to hear but I'll bet a quick visit to profesional detailer will fix it. It costs about $150 here for a full detail. The pros use some special sauce (LOL) and the right touch with the Porter Cable polishing machine.
I do most of my own work and own a Porter Cable. Money well spent. I keep all the cars shiney.
I do intend to get the C4 detailed though. Even after all my multi-step efforts, the detailer said he could get it alot better, then I can maintain it myself.

Try some Meguiars (no affil.) #9 swirl remover and #7 showcar glaze, top off with favorite wax.
You can try it by hand if you are not comfortable with a machine (buffer/polisher), will just take a little more work. I wouldn't use rubbing compound unless you know what you are doing. Will leave scratches you have to rub out. The swirl remover is a very mild compound.

It may just be that the wax deteriorated faster in one region than the other rather than any sun bleaching or other effects. So, I would try waxing the whole car using your normal procedure before trying something new.

Too weird!
I also had a '76 TR... A 7, not a 6- Loved it: Easy to work on, fun to drive!
I have a '93 964... C2, Not an RSA- RSA=Outstanding!
I have a ('98 528i)... Love it, but sort of sedate.
I have a '99 F250... V10, Not a diesel, But still a fantastic truck (and support vehicle)!
Welcome to Rennlist!
Back on topic... While I have no direct experience with this issue, I have read, as others have stated, that it's resolvable. Try the clean and wax first (pcarraig), then the next least invasive treatment (wsybert). Continue on from there, but I suspect it will already be resolved.
Paint chips keep me awake at night, and I should probably get a bra to use (but not park) sparingly. Though it's too late for me... She's a driver!
Good luck, and post your success!

Update so far.
Tried waxing - no change.
Tried polishing compound on a small corner of the hood. - no change.
Took the car to Turtle Wax and spoke with their "detail specialist" - the guy just scratched his head.
Will try the clay bar next. If that doesn't work, I'll probably have the hood repainted which is what I was planning to do sometime in the future.
thanks for all of your suggestions and helpful advise. Will report when resolved.

Strange, heat related probably and it went deep. As you know maybe already red and white solids are the softest paints (all brands). Then also normally the easiest to polish back up again. Does Porsche 964 solids have clearcoat??

This problem is on my other Pcar - 1999 Arctic Silver 996 C2. I meant to post this thread on the 996 forum but you guys have been most helpful.
Off topic - it's interesting that each forum seems to have it's own personality.
