Hi ped964,

Your car is nice. Gotta love a black Carrera! Cool thing about the 964 is that it looks good stock!!

I am not the wheel police. I am humbled by most of the cars on this thread. All I am saying is that the D90's do not add to the appreance. It could easily be said that they let the car lines shine through on their own. However, some might say that your car with a nicer 17" wheel would make it sizzle......

I compare it to a sexy girl in a nice dress, with flat heels, still a sexy girl. But put her in a pair of CFP's...........yeah baby. Wheels are like car jewelry. Also, the lower profile tires add to the handling.

I ramble on........ but I think the D90 is one of the worst styled wheels Porsche ever forged. Get your car a set of CFP's bro. Again, to each his one. End of the day, it is all about the driving experience really.

For me, the nicest looking rims for the 964 are still the 18" Speedlines from the 3.6 Turbo!

Had to rub it in. I wish I could put a wider wheel in the back of the turbo. Just isn't worth the expense of converting over to the N/A arms. I gave up autocrossing the turbo because i was always running against a GT3 with full race suspension and 10 & 12 x 18 inch rims running 285's up front and 335's in the rear. He would complain some days how he wasn't getting enough grip. That extra rubber makes a big difference.

Style wise the D90 is not the best looking wheel but it is one of the lightest wheels used by Porsche. Other than the Club sport version of the D90 or the earlier 15" fuchs most other wheels weigh a ton. For autocross use the D90's work well and the weight savings out weighs the sidewall strength most of the time. I have a set of 17" factory cup 1's from a 91 turbo I use on my 944 S2 for street use and when you put them on vs the D90's the car feels so much heavier and less responsive. So there are more than just looks involved here. Maybe the girl in the pretty dress can dance better with flats on instead of high heals.

BTW looking good everyone.

Cheers CanyonBlaster, comments appreciated. Truth be told, I am very fond of the Cup 1 and Ruf designs. Great thread, but I think it's gonna cost me $$$!

Cool

I know... have been posted before, but these are mine:

The wheels are starting to showing their age so I need to take the time to bring them back to top shape.

question to those running 3.6 Speedlines on narrow body - what size spacers are you running in the rear (and front)?

Burgass

thats a beautiful looking car - what colour is it? I'm generally not a huge fan of gold wheels on street cars but they really suit on yours.

Wachuko

your wheels look perfect in the photos, they look brand new. Your calipers look very fresh too, which reminds me i need to redo mine at some point £££££

Burgass, can you tell me more about those awesome looking wheels. What are the specs, where did you buy them (I'm from Denmark, so shopping in Sweden could be an option), do you have rubbing, what tyre sizes?

Thanks
Morten

screwable H&R adapter (is needed because the inside of the wheel touched the oilpipes) in the back is 22 mm, in the front i don,t need one
