Default Atra Automobllies - a Great Garage in Geneva

Many thanks to Atra in Geneva
- a genuine Porsche Specialist that makes the Porsche Main Agent look useless!

- After 2000 miles round europe and and on the home run, a power steering high pressure hose suddenly started leaking

- add in a two day bank holiday in France
- factor in Porsche France Annecy being totally unhelpful misleading and plain useless, it was a great relief when

Farid Aklouche - Reception Atelier
Automobliles Atra 54,
Chemin de l'etang,
Chatelaine
Geneva

farid@atra.ch
www.atra.ch

- gave great service in initially checking out the lack of availability of the hose, speed in communications, reliability in support and finally reliable and high quality quick service
- he treated a very small job with enthusiasm and traditional enthusiasts commitment
i finally had the part shipped from Porsche East End !!! ( longer story )
- thanks Dean

- it arrived overnight at my place in Chamonix and I arrived in Geneva at 8.30 the next morning and was on the road to Calais by 10.30 - back in Chelsea by 20.30

the job was done with skill speed and panache by Jean Lois Fourny - Head Mechanic
- his ability and skill was so obvious in his very bearing even on such a little job - that it was no surprise to learn about his three Le Mans wins as chief mechanic and his car building skills

Any problems in the area of the Alps - go Atra and you will not be disappointed

Many thanks Farid and Jean Louis for your speedy help and for treating a small job with such speed and professionalism

Always nice to hear that older Porsches (the cars Rodders not the owners ) receive good service, shame on the dealer in Annecy though.

Thanks for the recommendation Rodders!

Running and maintaining my 964 in Lausanne, I often feel the pain when dealing with the official Porsche garages in the French part of Switzerland. They have no interest on the older cars and provide their services accordingly. Late, expensive, and often not satisfactory.

Sadly, I guess the ample supply of wealthy people in Lausanne and Geneva of people has driven Porsche to conclude that they do not need to take care of the real enthausiasts.

The funny thing is that I can esaily afford to spend what it takes in my car, and do so in order to keep it in mint condition. But, I prefer to spend my money on mechanics who care for my car in the way I do.

BTW, I also tried my luck once with Porsche in Annecy, and was not impressed at all.

I will take my car to Atra for it's 160K km service which is coming up soon.

Take care,

Jens

I thought you were in Madrid and now I see Russia. Good going. I'm picking up my car tonight after it's 160.000 service, a bit of apprehension for the bill I must admit.

Hi Kris,

You are right.. sort of.

I was in Madrid (with car) last year and went to Moscow in April this year. But, I decided to leave the car in Switzerland, where I have my home base.

You know? The thing I miss most of all here is the car!

BTW, I fully understand the queasy feeling about the service bill 160K is a biggie...

Take care,

Jens

Hi Jens
I was so frustrated with the French in Annecy - they said they could do the job over a 2 day period and when i asked for confirmation they turned out not to have the part in stock and could not do the job until Sept 15 !!!
They would have taken the car in stripped it then told me the bad news!
- but I had been warned of the French deceitfulness !!
I loved the atmosphere in Alta - some nice 964 racing cars - I think the boss races them.
The chief engineer was just superb - just a true artist knowing the car totally - it made up for all the previous pain - I had planned to nip down to Forte dei Marni but the leak bothered me -
Let us know how you get on and dont forget to mention the conection
Hi Kris - other than the hose the car was brilliant - cruising up in the 120 mph with all the radar detectors on - keep meaning to fix up an active jammer but ....
( dont want to get locked up )
My car needed the long hop - as did this old body - following my 8 year old up to Montevers showed how knackered I am!
- the car feels so much better after the long run
