It seems a bump had loosened the pump electrical connection, after probably being bashed by the wheel brace, and then blown the relay but not the fuse.

£42.36 for a 12V 20A relay from Stratstone (on order). No wonder they are the Main Stealers, in Maplin a 12V 40A relay was only £5.29

Collecting the relay tomorrow as Stratstone of Wilmslow, having charged me for postage, forgot to post it and then rang me at 5.25pm today just to make sure i didn't have enough time to get there when only about five miles away on M56 "Oh we finish at 5.30...." Maybe i'll get my own back by subjecting one of their cars to a thorough test drive
