Default power steering gone!!!! help update

hey guys, after a nice dinner out, i started the car and suddenly i heard a loud noise coming from the back of the car, that resulted in the loss of my power steering. the noise is still there and its loud even when driving.
iam thinking either the belt broke or the power steering pump . there are no leaks and the power steering reservoir is full.
what do you guys think?? anyone had a similar problem before?
thanks in advance

check to see if the belt is still intact - there's a gap in the belt shroud one can get a visual if the belt is moving if you look from under the car.

i would assume if the belt goes, it shouldnt cause a constant loud noise !!!!
can someone confirm this?
thanks

If the belt broke and is now jammed in between two spinning parts I can believe it would make an eyeyeyeyeyeye sound.

well, i got really impatient, so i broke the top plastic cover of the power steering pump to check the belt,
the belt looks fine , but when i turn the top pully , i hear this funny noise like something is loose.
its coming from the bottom pully!!!!!!!! WTF
it looks like its either proken, or just loose!!! how can it get loose??
anyway, in my last 964, i had to replace the cam shaft seal, and it looks like iam going that way again to check whats going on. i swore not to do it again since it was real hard labor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but i guess i have to.
i had this car for 2 months, and i already replaced a coil, distributer belt broke, thermostat died, and the oil cooler temperature sensor failed. iam starting to get sick!!!!! the first reason i bought this car was its shape, 45k miles, and the fast thats it doesnt leak oil.
i need HELP

Mike,
Sorry to hear about the continuing saga....... the bottom pulley is held on with a bolt that goes into the cam shaft.

well i took care of the problem and you are not going to believe what it was!!!
i took the rear passenger wheel off , and since i dont have a secondary muffler , i had plenty of clearance
took 2 10mm bolts off and pushed the cover to the side. and there it was: a 3 inch scew driver !! it bloked the bottom pully until it came off!!!!! WTF
anyway, cleaned up everything, put everything back together and voila, iam back in business, it took about 20 min. i ended up using crazy glue to glue back the top plastic cover and its holding firm.
went back to the prevoius owner records, and i think during the reseal 2k miles ago at a porsche dealer, they may have left the screw driver there, binch of idiots
iam happy that it came down to this.
thanks for the support

Is it a decent screw driver? I don't know labor rates in yourf part of the world but if its a decent Snap On then maybe 20 mins work is fair pay

crazy glue sucks! use a good 5 minute epoxy but first knit the 2 plastic pieces together with either a thin wire or monofilament fishing line. To do this drill a series of tiny holes ( a dremel works great) on both pieces and then sew/knit the 2 pieces together with the wire or monofilament. I'm afraid if you don't you'll probably find the broken piece of plastic where you just found the screwdriver. I know it sounds like a lot of work but it will be better and may save some future agravation - then again if you're lucky (it doesn't sound like you've been too lucky based on what you wrote above and your experience so far with this vehicle) the crazy glue will be fine. Better yet buy a new piece of plastic.

Be patient
